3D revit car families without face edge lines

Hello,

Anyone knows of any good vehicle revit families that one can just turn off the visibility for all the overlapping edges it is made of?

Meaning, the same way you can turn off "interior edges" from a floor with modified sub-elements?

These would help a lot on Hidden Line or shaded 3D Views.

Thanks in advance.

You can do it by yourself by opening the Family with the desired car and apply in Front, Back,Left and Right Elevations and Top View Masking Regions and Symbolic Lines and check the Visibility Settings so to see what you want.

If you have the Front, Back,Left and Right  and Top 2d views it will be easier.

In made a test file I use such a combination .Unfortunately the 2d do not fit exactly the 3d car type and the file is to big to send from here (3d car models a quite files)

Constantin,

Thank you for your reply.

I was probably not using the right wording. I have used your suggestion in the past for plumbing appliances.

My intention here was on how to get rid of the edge lines on a 3D view. Not on Floor Plans or Sections/Elevations.

Edges are still showing on your 3D View snapshot.

Kind regards,

the triangulation is a characteristic of imported from dwg ( and MAX) so I doubt you can avoid them...

But if the car is modeled in Revit ( as generic model ) with Subcategories (for materials) you will have a clean  drawing in 3d view Hidden Line and Shaded Visual Styles...I hope you will find such a model made in Revit.....if my memory serves me right ,I think , I saw such an example once , but it wasn't a very accurate one.....

That's exactly it.

All furniture and entourage content are just imports from other formats rather than Revit native.

I have found nothing modeled in Revit. And it may be very tricky to do it, hence, not worth it.

There is this video explaining how to do it but the result is not great. Good. But not great.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, just wondering if in the last 4 years anyone has found or modelled native car families for Revit? I'm looking for a family that doesn't show triangulation in 3D views.

Thanks!

you can find some good examples on the site:  RevitCity >chapter: Transportation

https://www.revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=viewmf04&mf04_l1_id=27

I suggest to gather some of these and make your own library...as I did. You can then pick families from here and use Copy/Paste to insert the items into your Project file.

Could you please provide suggestions for aesthetically pleasing elements to incorporate into my residential and commercial building designs? This includes recommendations for cars, plants, furniture, as well as windows and doors that enhance the overall visual appeal of the plans.
(my email id is [email protected])
I'm new to Revit, so this will be extremely helpful for me. Thank you!
