2D Lines on 3D View

Hello fellow Revit users,

I'm here with a huge question with families. Is there any way to hide 2D lines in the 3D view?

I made a family based on 2 dwgs, one 2D plan, and a 3D object, all good so far. In the plan view, I can see only the 2D lines I imported, and in the other view, I see the interpretation of the 3D geometry. But I want to hide the 2D lines in the 3D view, which is not possible with the visibility options.

So the workaround I came up with was to save and load the family in a project and hide the lines in the 3D view using the Linework tool to each line.

Wasting some time but all good. But then if I want to make a copy of it I have to hide them again. Is there a way to keep those linework properties when I copy the component?

Thanks,

You can select the model lines and then hit convert lines. It will convert model to symbolic.

Create the subcategory for the Lines inside the family. then you can control the lines in the project from visibility graphics.

Are the 2D lines coming from the DWG? Must be, because Revit 2D Lines aren't visible in 3D.  I would just replace the DWG Linework with Revit Linework.  Is the DWG Linework on it's own Layer under Imported Categories?  Turn it off.

In your family, keep the 3D dwg as is, trace the 2d with Revit symbolic lines. If you don't want to trace, then explode the DWG of the lines and convert them to symbolic lines. Or if you don't want to trace and don't want to explode, then import the DWG line drawing to a detail family and nest it in the model family.

I'm terribly confused. You wrote that you had 2D lines showing in 3D views -- and convert model lines to symbolic lines is the solution???  HUH???
