Wall Closure Parameter doesn't Exist

Hi Everyone!

We use door and window families from some companies like, ASSA Abloy and Kalwall in our office. Unfortunately their families doesn't have "Wall Closure" parameter. That make us to have problem with showing our walls veneer pattern in the sections and that makes us to do extra effort and adjustment during the design process. They might start the families with Generic Model Template and then change the category (This is the only condition that I know makes this problem). My question is is how to add wall closure parameter to these kind of families.

Thank you!

Dear Amin,

Is this a Revit API issue, or an end user question?

Are you doing anything programmatically, or just using the standard Revit user interface?

If you want to do it programmatically, it still helps enormously to explore how to achieve the desired changes manually through the user interface first.

If that can be done, it is probably possible programmatically as well.

I hope this helps.

You can add a shared parameter to any element you like.

The question is whether you can use its value to drive anything in the model, and whether that is in fact what you are after.

If you are not after a programmatic solution, please note that this discussion forum is dedicated to programming Revit using the Revit API.

Therefore, you cannot expect an answer to a question such as yours relating to product usage and best practice issues here.

You should try one of the non-API Revit product support discussion forums instead for that:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-api/this-forum-is-for-revit-api-programming-questions-not-for/td...

The people there are much better equipped to answer your question than us programming nerds.

I hope this clarifies.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Jeremy,

Thank you for your response!

Yes, I'm absolutely looking for a programming solution at this point because I guess we do have enough experience in non-API part and also researched the problem enough.

I talked to one of the companies programers in person to find a solution but they were and still are ulable to solve it.

I also tried to transfer family paramerts from other opening families with add-ins in project environment but no success with this particular one.

I'll drop a post in non-api forum again but I don't think there is a user interface solution at all.

Hope that clarified the situation and thank you very much again!
