when i use particular subcategories with a particular name like "test-place-holder" i get

"The input subcategory is illegal" .....error

if the subcategory has never been added before i can add it fine thorugh code. the next time i go to add the subcategory with that name the same thing occurs. if i repeat this process for say "wash-bucket" it has no problems.

I renamed to the subcategory to placeholder and works fine. Also the same subcateogry name caused no issues in another family of same category. Bizzaro.

So its one of these subcategory names

Appliances

Place-holder

Data

in

electrical and plumbing families

none of the other subcategories do this.

the behaviour is if

1. you delete all extrusions

or

2. recreate the subcategory one time

you dont get the error

3. the next time you try to use the subcategory it errors

none of this occurs for any of the other subcategories.

Is it possible family corruption?

Hi @frankholidayjunior
I have the same error on Revit 2019.2: the first time when I create the subcategory, and assign it to extrusion/freeformelement, it works without issues. Evert second run of the code raises and error:

'The input subcategory is illegal.'

but no on the creation of the subcategory - but instead on assigning the subcategory to extrusion/freeformelement.

Did you ever manage to find the fix for this bug?
Thank you in advance for the reply.
