Splitting Duct using the API

Hello everyone,

Looking for an update on something.  I would like to use the Split Element tool to split some Duct that I am inserting using the API, however; from all the resources that I'm seeing, this is impossible.  I'd need to, more or less, do this manually.

Is this still true?  If so, when can we expect to see this implemented into the API?

Edit:  If it's still not possible to envoke the Split Element routine using the API, I suppose I'd need to still manually insert each invidual piece and then put a union between them?

Thanks.

Hi,

The function Split is not accessible with API.

The only solution is to recreate the fonction.

For split a duct, you must :

1) select a point on a duct

2) create two duct with a space between them (0.001)

3) Insert an union between the connector

That's the answer I was afraid of.  Hopefully someone from Autodesk could elaborate when we might see this implemented into the UI?

Hi Mhills,

A side note -

In the effort to better organize and bring more visibilities to our communities, we started Idea Station:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/idb-p/302/tab/most-recent

Feel free to add your wish there. This way, you may have somebody joining you to raise the voice for needing this feature.

When you make a new post, there is a category "API". Make sure you choose it.  We (ADN team) will be monitoring API category.

Victaulic has a tool for splitting pipe, duct, and conduit.  The latest version will split Fabrication Ductwork and Pipework.

Hi Ricky,

Very cool.  Thank you for sharing. You should put it on the Revit App Store, too 😉

More visibility and easy to find.
