Revit API Selecting Linked Objects

When using Revit with linked Revit files, I can select an indivitual element with Tab/Select and view some properties. However, if I run Snoop Current Selection, it comes up blank. Is there a way, through the API to Tab/Select such an entity?

Current Revit API cannot access the selected objects in linked model (Revit 2013).

I was wondering if this has been changed for Revit 2014?

I just did a quick test, and it appears that elements selected in a linked model are stil not part of ActiveUIDocument.Selection.Elements. Is there still no way for the API to return elements selected in a linked model?

Revit 2014 exposed the API functionality to pick elements in linked model.
PickObject & PickObjects can pick elements in linked model.

Hi Adam,

Thank you for the appreciation!

Here is another idea regarding the selection of elements in a linked file:

Dear Adam,

Just for future reference, I submitted a wish list item SPR #237075 [PickObjects in linked document] for this.

Cheers, Jeremy.

hi all,

i understand that it's not possible to select elements in a linked file. Bevor i found this thread i tested it by myself. Actually we have the same issue. We want to identify and select elements (own generic models) by button to copy them in the current Revit file using clipboard.

The identification of these elements was easy. The filter returns 37 elements (view screenshot), but the elements are not selected in the active view and if i push them into the clipboard, revit crashes. Is this the same problem?

do you have an idea how i can go round ths problem? Is the a better way to copy the elements to the current file?

thanks

Mark
