Revit 2018 Update 1 'Visual Materials API'

Hi

Where is the API documentation for the API improvements made available in the Revit 2018 Update 1 release? Specifically I'm interested in the new 'Visual Materials API' and whether this functionality includes the ability to reload texture files (jpg's etc)?

Regards

Dan

Hi Jim

I can't see anything on that post about the Update 1 'Visual Materials API'. Only a note that the Asset* classes were moved to a different namespace... did I miss something?

Dear Dan,

An update 2018.1 to the Revit SDK was posted to the Revit Developer Centre:

http://www.autodesk.com/developrevit

It includes two new samples:

  • Appearance Asset Editing
  • Duplicate Graphics

The former will hopefully answer all your questions in full.

The latter was already discussed by The Building Coder:

http://thebuildingcoder.typepad.com/blog/2017/05/revit-2017-and-2018-sdk-samples.html#4.2

Best regards,

Jeremy

Fantastic! Thanks Jeremy.

I'll download the updated SDK and study the new Asset Editing sample.

Dear Dan,

Can you reload the texture files (jpg's etc) with the Visual Material API?

I can just reset the color of the asset.

Best Regards,

Walt Wang
