Questions about The Secondary-Development base on Revit API

Hi,

I'm a technical staff of a home-decoration company of china. We are very interested in BIM especially using the BIM in the business of home decoration.

But as we know, the BIM  now is frequently using on many  huge buildings and constructions projects but not in home decoration projects. In that case, my development group need to do many Secondary-Development works base on Revit if we want to use Revit as a solution of the 'BIM in home decoration'. We need development more  functions on Revit to matching the home decoration.

As above, my question is does Revit such like some software engines that can supply the necessary API to the developer so that the developer can build new software based on Revit engine?
