Picture to hatch pattern

Hi,

Is there anyway to convert picture to hatch pattern so that there won't be external reference when export to CAD file.

Thank you.

Hi!

I suppose, the answer is no. I see no way to achieve it via UI. There are few features in Revit, that can be achieved only via API, 90% of features are available in API only if you can do it via UI

Hi,

I think you want to convert a raster image into a hatch pattern, don't you?

Neither Revit GUI nor API can do that.

That will be a major task since image data needs to be interpreted: what is a line, what is a circle etc.

Recognition rate will depend on image resolution, image quality, and I think dozens of programmers could write on that code for several years, for a 70% success rate.

And after finding the lines, you have to convert them to the pattern system, which does only allow to draw (endlessly repeating) straight lines and dots.

But:

Autodesk seems to review its current hatching system, status "future consideration":

So perhaps, in the future, you could use image files for hatches directly.

Who knows.
