OK so Cute PDF writer refuses to recognize the text in my title block.  The text in the actual sheet are all fine.  Anybody know how to fix this?  Or alternately anybody know of a pdf writer that will do 36X24" Arch D size and is either free or like $30 ?? I need another option and i gather that acrobat pro causes problems as well (and isn't cheap)  I am using Revit LT 2017 and my client is getting annoyed @ me .  Mahalo for your help

I don't have an answer as it relates to the Revit API, but I think there's a solution to your problem.

We had a very similar issue with a specific font years ago, with Adobe Distiller, CutePDF and BlueBeam PDF.  I was able to fix the issue with Adobe by embedding the font in the PDFs.  I had to uncheck the "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts" and that fixed it.  I found a document online with a quick Google search for that and found this response:

Prepare the document as per the requirements of the event.
Choose File > Printer > CutePDF
Click on “Printer Property” and the Advanced option. From the Pull Down menu for TrueTypeFonts, choose “Download as Softfonts”. Click OK, OK and Press Print. Save the PDF file using appropriate name.

I hope that helps!

Well it turns out cute pdf writer is working just fine:-)  The problem was the font being used.  I had Bank Gothic used in my title block but it was causing gibberish.  When i did some digging i found that i needed Bank Gothic MT . . . when i installed that and removed the Bank Gothic (also a rtf) but somehow "bad".

So all is well now

many thanks
