Generic Annotations Not Populating Shared Parameters from Project Information

I'm working on setting up custom labels for a cover sheet and have 10 similar projects coming up. My goal is to streamline the process by entering repetitive data once and having it display consistently across sheets.

I’ve successfully used shared parameters for my title block, which links to the Project Information and displays everything correctly. The title block works exactly as intended.

However, when I switch the family category to Generic Annotation, the shared parameters stop populating. Instead, Revit gives me the option to link these parameters to a Global Parameter, but it won’t read the data from the shared parameter tied to Project Information. If I change the family back to the Title Block category, the parameters populate correctly again.

While I can work around this by keeping the family as a title block or using global parameters in a generic annotation, I’d like to know:

  • Is there a way to make Generic Annotations read data directly from Project Information via shared parameters?

Any advice or insights would be appreciated!

Top one is categorized title block. The bottom is a generic annotation calling the same shared parameter.
