Delete connected union fitting doesn't automatically join curves in Revit 2021

I have noticed the following (critical) change in the Revit 2021: When you delete a union fitting from a document between connected duct/pipe/conduit. In Revit 2020 the two curves are automatically joined into a single curve BUT now (2021) this has been changed so that project will still contain two separate curves after union deletion.

Is this a bug in Revit 2021 (which will be fixed in future update releases) or should I try to find some workaround for that? Similar problem also occurs with duct and pipe accessories so this is not only a union fitting related issue. The functionality seems to be identical between Revit API and UI.

Current Revit API doesn't seems to contains any easy method to join two curves to one curve. Of course you can create own join method which can be done like that in duct case:

1. Delete taps from one duct if exists

2. Disconnect side connected terminals from one duct if exists

3. Delete duct which doesn't contain taps or terminals and move another duct end to same location where farthest connector of deleted duct was. Connect also moved connector if it has been earlier connected.

4. Create taps again. Revit API doesn't support connect tap again therefore we have to create them again. Rotate tap exactly same way and also make sure tap tap is exactly same type. Also this phase all instances parameters should be copied from old tap to new tap.

5. Connect side connected terminals back to the duct.

Is there any easier way to implement that. Earlier it was possible to use this auto join functionality when union fitting is deleted but it doesn't seems to work anymore in Revit 2021.

Completely agree. I used to use slices all over the place when Revit doesn't allow you to connect ducts or pipes together near bends or transformation pieces. You could get away with it by just deleting the slice (union) after you had connected the pieces, but now because it doesn't join the ducts back up I have to leave unprofessional looking slices throughout the drawing. Autodesk - sort it out. Software is supposed to get better with updates, not worse!

Hi,

Agree, especially when the project contains hundreds of union fittings the issue is really frustrating and time-consuming.

I completely agree I use couples to isolate ducts I don't want to automatically update. Now I have to leave these couples in place or because if I delete them and reconnect it will change any local fitting. This is a major bug and I hope they get this corrected.

Hi,

Agree, same problem in my Revit 2021.
