Hi everyone,

I am trying to place a line based generic model on front and back plane of a family (nested family) but not able to create.

Anyone here was able to achieve the above task or knows how to do it. I tried using all the methods given Revit family creation in the given link

How do you achieve this task manually in the user interface?

That is the first step.

Do not try to program anything until you have completed that and ensured that you are following best practices in your family usage.

You can analyse those results using RevitLookup and other tools. Have you completed that preparation?

If so, what problems are you seeing now?

From project browser I select and drag the family type to work space, change the placement to workplane based and then click for first point and second point.

This is the process I do manually.

Now for programming I tried all NewfamilyInstance Method but not able to place my family type on the parallel plane (Center front/back plane) to the view (exterior).

In some methods I am able to place but the family type in placed only on bottom reference plane (@ref. level) even though I mention Center front/back plane to host the instance, and the instance is not acting as line based not allowing to stretch from either side.
