Copy materials between Family Docs

Hey,

I'm seeing a change in behavior when copying materials between documents using the Revit API. Back in Revit 2022, if I copied a material that had the same name as one in the target doc, it would just override it. Now in Revit 2024, doing the exact same thing creates a duplicate instead (e.g. MyMaterial becomes MyMaterial1), instead of replacing the existing one.

Any idea how to get back the old behavior where the material gets overridden? I’m stuck and a bit pressed for time, so any help would be super appreciated.

I noticed that behavior recently when tried to copy families between documents using:

• ElementTransformUtils.CopyElements Method (Document, ICollection(ElementId), Document, Transform, CopyPasteOptions)

I was testing in Revit 2026 and show a warning mention the name change. I didn't find a way to overwrite at the moment 🙁
