I'm using a command to prompt the user to create a detail curve

It works fine, I tried to use a shortcut to open another external command, but I couldn't, on placing detail curve mode the shortcuts work only for modify tools, so another way that might work is to force close the post command after placing a detail curve without pressing Escape is that available?
I'll explain the expected behaviour
On placing detail curve I replace it with an updater to place a family with the specified length, it's a point-based family so that's why I use this approach.
the user wants to use a shortcut to switch between this family or mode to go to another mode by placing other types of families using this command
