Can't seem to adjust/align the surface pattern of an object

Hello,

 

I have an object that essentially is just a wall protector (like a big board) with a surface pattern on it. However, the surface pattern (model pattern) is not moveable. Even when I tab to the lines of the pattern, the whole object will move with it. 

 

Is there a way to move only the pattern, or perhaps "lock" the pattern to one side of the object?

 

I hope I made it clear enough what I'm trying to achieve 🙂

This is actually a question for the Revit Architecture Forum.

 

I presume the wall protector is a family. You need to add a parameter in the family, to define an offset for the fill pattern, like in my answer to this post:
