API distances checking

Hi everyone,

What do you use to check evacuation distances for evacuation? ( Distances from one place to exit doors/ emergency exits...)
Do you know if there is an app that permit to create isodistance or/and isochrone diagrams ? ( Like for GIS)

I have no idea what the best practices for this may be from the BIM and end user interface points of view. I would recommend researching that first, before thinking about addressing it programmatically. However, my first naive off-hand idea for a possible approach would be to use the Revit path of travel functionality to define the egress path, and then query the sum of its line segment lengths. I have never heard of the diagrams you mention... would you like to clarify what they are?
