Adding context menu item in revit

Hello everyone,

I have this task to add a context menu item in Revit and upon clicking that item I want to start another application. I dont have any clue about how to do it.
Can  any one help? Also can you share the object model file for revit.

Thanks and Regards,

Sai kiran

AFAIK, there is no such API to extend context menu. sorry.

however you can add sub-menus under Addins, or add a ribbon menu by yourself.

for ribbon menu: http://thebuildingcoder.typepad.com/blog/about-the-author.html#5.26
for start up: search for "My First Revit Plug-in tutorial" in above link

I know this is an old post, but 9 years later it may be possible, haven't tried it out myself though.

Yes, it is possible, but it has limited functionality at this time.
