Please work through the getting started material:

http://thebuildingcoder.typepad.com/blog/about-the-author.html#2

It explains all you need to know.

If you are in a hurry and want to skip everything else, you can just check out the hello world samples in the developer guide:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-BEEA9781-C8A5-4324-B213-B6A44BA78051

Good luck!

Jeremy

It is basically very simple and needs no coding experience or prowess.

There are just two files:

  • .NET Assembly *.DLL
  • Add-in manifest *.ADDIN

Both of these can be placed in one of the folder locations specified in the developer guide installation instructions.

The add-in manifest includes a tag specifying the location of the add-in DLL.

Remove the path for that, since it is in the same directory, and Bob's your uncle.

Cheers,

Jeremy

It was just one file HiltiBIMCADLibraryRevit.exe. This particular one needed the Click2Cad toolbox in order to be accessed after the install. It added in a New tab rather than add it self to the add-In tab.

If you only have an EXE I cannot help you.

Please contact the add-in vendor for help.

Good luck!
