Export with texture to Fusion 360

Hi everyone,
I am new to Remake and still learning so forgive me if I did not find the answer to this question in the forum. I would like to export model from Remake to Fusion 360 while maintaining the texture and colors. I tried different ways (I tried export to obj) and tried to find guidance on the forum but unfortunately... :[ I want to do cross- sections and animation in Fusion but I have to keep texture. Is it possible? I will add that I use pro version of Remake and I work on a Windows.
I create models from sliver of rocks so texture is very important (also for my audience which I prepare animation). I would be very grateful for the tips, links to tutorials or other promt.

ps. Excuse my english

Regards,
Kasia

Hi Kasia,

Could you let us know what options for export you used, and what the result was? (i.e. did it fail, or generate a bad mesh, or generate something that could not be imported into Fusion360?)

Cheers,

Julian

Hi Julian,

thank you very much for quick answer. I'll try to write more details. Actually I create models of stone tool (jpg in annex and below; jpg is exportet from Remake of course).

I want to save the same colors and texture in obj or other format which I could use in Fusion 360. I thought that I have to export model to obj.

Firstly I chose option: quic export, obj optimize for Fusion 360 - obj, high quality

but I got something like that (prt scn; after opening in Fusion and "insert into current design"):

test_1.jpg

my artefact looks like a piece of metal. After that I exported model to obj using advanced options but the final result after opening file in fusion 360 was very similar.

What can I do to save colors and texture? I don't know where I'm making a mistake. Could you write me step by step what options I shoul choose to export model for Fusion? It's very important to me because without original colors and texture my animation or jpg exported from fusion will be unclear (I want to export sections or connections between models and create animation from that).

Cheers,

Kasia

Hi Kasia,

Unfortunately, ReMake does not currently support exporting to Quad OBJ files (which is what the Fusion export option does) with textures.

May I suggest that you export using the advanced option to OBJ (not the Quad option), and include the Diffuse map at least, and if you like you can also include the Displacement and Normal Map options (these are all texture enhancement methods).

After that, attempt to import the OBJ mesh generated into Fusion 360, and if the texture does not automatically show, look for an option to apply textures onto the mesh (I am not sure where that would be myself). The downside to this is that T-Splines will not be easy to generate, since those use Quad-based meshes.

Cheers,

Julian
