Ok I'll admit to throwing ridiculous amounts of superfluous data at recap, I mean who in their right minds attempts to scan a house in a forest?
So I was delighted to let the program cleanup my model. I was thinking of the sunny days when my parents used to cleanup my room in disgust while I was out, much like I now have to clean my kids rooms because they are sloths.
But recap cleanup was more like having a forensic team disassemble my cat. You know they are never the same after that. In all seriousness, prior to cleanup I was looking at a 45 second redraw. After the cleanup i'll never know, I've never had the patience to wait more than 2 hours. I reveverted to a backup.
Cutting the model up into regions has a similar effect. I've taken to treating my recap models like a carefully constructed house of cards. They are beautiful and useful, but still a bit fragile. Kudos to all you surveyors that have been working with Point Clouds for years. Some of us designers are only now beginning to appreciate the technicalities of what you've been doing for us.
Not complaining, just saying.... can I have my cat back the way it was?
