Recap with batch-process mechanism

Recap with batch-process mechanism

Recap Pro is a Desktop Application and allows just one session at a time. Why not implementing a batch-process mechanism to put the time-consuming Import of files process in a batch while one can work interactively on another project. Alternatively, it would be useful to start a new session of Recap on the same computer. Actually one is blocked with working with Recap when a long time-consuming process has been started.

Agreed with eddy.meyer.  We often have scan projects that are multiple lab rooms for MEP modeling and each must be its own RCP project, though they were all scanned in the same day. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to process each of them simultaneously, without having to finish one before commencing the next.  Current workflow necessitates multi-day processing, when each project itself is only 1 hour or so.

I thought Decap could do this, but apparently it too can only run one project at a time.  Am I wrong? (I haven't tried it, just reporting what I've heard).

I submitted an idea to batch process native Faro, Leica, and/or Topcon RAW SCAN folders and convert them to RCS folders.  I want to eliminate the lengthy IMPORT and RE-import time when making different RCP projects.  I then read your post afterwards which is a similar idea.  You have my thumbs up!!

This would be very helpful as I have had several multi-area projects which I had to wait to complete one project before starting the next.

I believe DeCap will allow multiple instances to run at once.  You'll be on your own with respect to the limits of your system (meaning each instance won't know how much RAM/CPU the other is trying to use, and may crash).  But give it a shot.

I can definitively confirm that with some "power user" manipulation, you can use Decap to process multiple projects at once.

While my linked post discusses the way which I break a project into multiple sections for the purposes of maximizing the computer hardware utilization, using the exact same process you could process multiple separate projects simultaneously... In fact I have to use a naming convention of project1, project2, etc in my process, so you would in fact be using the product in a far more direct fashion.

Seeing as this is another completely legitimate reason for needing multiple instances of Recap and/ or having Recap process with multiple threads... Hopefully the programmers will take note and finally show some progress on this subject.
