My company has just begun using point cloud technology to help design retrofit water treatment systems. Recap is so far the best system from which the data can be interpreted. The problem we are having, is that most of our retrofits do not have good surfaces from which measurements can be taken and our equipment is usually contained within circular basins. This makes the measurement tools within recap difficult to use. I would like to see more flexible measuring capability within recap that allows a user to measure from predicted center lines of round objects like tank wall and pipes. I would also like to see greater capability in selecting features like corner vertices and edges. It would also be very useful if the the 360 degree photographic information from our Leica scanner could be viewed, isolated and measured rather than just overlaid as is currently the case. Further more, a mesh tool that doesn't require purchased cloud space would be very useful.
