I'm exploring many workflows possible with the BLK360 and ReCap Pro. One factor I find I have to deal with often is WAITING. To make the best use of my time, I want to be able to do something else while waiting (i.e., to multi-task effectively). Being able to set up ReCap Pro to notify me with a text message and audible sound upon completion of whatever process I've been waiting for would be quite useful. Seems simple enough.
For example, I might decide I want to make a series of BLK360 scans WITHOUT connecting to my iPad (i.e., so-called "one-button" scans). This way I waste no time waiting for scan data to transfer to the iPad during the scanning process. Then, after completing all my scans, I'd connect my BLK360 to my iPad and transfer/process all the scan data at one time. The issue is that this can add up to a lot of time if there are a lot of scans. So, I'd like to be able to go away and focus my attention on other tasks while all of the scans transfer to and are processed within the iPad. I don't want to be distracted by constantly having to check my iPad to see if all the work has been done. I could do that if I were sent a text message when the "job" completes. When I receive the text message, my Apple Watch will "ding", grabbing my attention at the right time. In addition, the text message could contain a brief description of WHAT has been completed -- so, as a series of such text messages are received over a period of time, I accumulate a record of work that has been done, including when it started and ended (might be useful in billing a customer ...).
The above is just an example. There are many other time-consuming steps in the process of getting to a registered point cloud where notifications that use text messaging would be similarly useful and would allow me to evolve a workflow that's as efficient as possible given the limitations of the tools I'm using.
