ASC Import on Recap 2017

For some reason, ASC import is not an option for Recap 2017 products, but it was there in 2016. See images.

Please reinstate ASC import option on all versions of Recap.

Hi Luke,

Did you use this format successfully in 2016?  We removed it because we learned about several other softwares which use this file extension with a completely different format internally (basically they didn't work at all).

Usually - files with ASC extension are really just text files with the data in a column-based format (similar to PTS).  Is this what you have?  If so, you should be able to change the extension to TXT and set the column format in the Text Options.

If not - can you share a sample with us?

Yes, I have received ASC in various different formats too. In the first instance, I think Recap should still allow it as an import format, but perhaps provide different 'profiles' based on the file content, or these profiles could be embedded into the Open dialog as

• ASC (xyz Intensity Normal)
• ASC (xyz RGB)

and so forth?
