Allow for manual stitching of photos in ReCap Photo

I am logging this request on behalf of a customer.

The user would like to have the ability to manually stitch photos together within ReCap Photo. ReCap Pro has the ability to do manual registration with point cloud scan data and so for photogrammetry users should have the same ability to stitch their photos together to improve results.

An example, the user often gets gaps in the RCM from water (high reflectivity) or dense vegetation (fractal patterns) and so manual stitching might give them the ability to prevent this and forgo the need for additional editing later on.

Thank you,

I am said customer.  I think the program is easy to use up front, and is in direct competition with Pix4D in that respect, however, both Pix4D and MetaShape have the ability to manually stitch photos (both of which use complicated methods that may or may not net a good result).  However if Autodesk uses the same stitch method presented for GCP values, and allows a post processing (i don't know Ill have a problem until I have it) stitch up, then allows for full processing (similar to MetaShape's work flow), I think Autodesk will have a winner.  Perhaps a method that can quickly scan photos to see if any would potentially cause stitching issues, and have the users pre-stitch them with min 4 keypoints (as usual).

Thanks,

Hi,

I am a new user of ReCap Pro. Back in the day Autodesk was beta testing a cloud service (it was free then) which allowed a user to manually specify reference points in a series of photos done from different angles. Is it not possible now or I am missing something? I've just tried to get a building model from a series of aerial and eye level photos but the results are disappointing -- but the credits were taken anyway.

Agree with all points. Reflections cause issues, especially on a glassy object.  And there was a way to manually register points in the past. Bring it back, please!

If manual stitching is not brought back in we have to switch to another software 😢😢

I agree will all the points raised above, and raise another - that of when dealing with a fixed set of seemingly sufficiently overlapped images (collected by others) from which to prepare a 3D model, and there is no opportunity to capture more.

Also, unless I'm missing something, ReCap Photo seems to re-orient some photos indiscriminately, when dragged in for processing. The resultant compilation received from the automated stitching process requires correction - which would be achieved simply by manual stitching. Please resurrect "manual stitching" as an option !!!
