Truncate survey coordinates in Recap

I want to know if it is possible to truncate the survey coordinates in Recap 360 Pro.

We typically receive laser scan projects in RCP format (internally or externally) in the correct state plane coordinate system.  In order to use this point cloud data in the design interface, it is preferred/required to work with smaller coordinate values.  One of our preferred solutions is to truncate the survey coordinate system (i.e. 1,234,567.89' to 4,567.89').  This makes the conversion back to full survey coordinates, when necessary, much easier.

Our workflow now is to go back to the originator of the RCP file and have them go back through the registration process to redefine the coordinate system.  This usually takes a lot of time and effort, back and forth, to explain exactly what we need.  It would be a lot easier if this is something I could do myself in Recap.

Do you need a specific offset, or will any (local) origin work?

To move the origin to 'within' your point cloud, use the 'Update Origin' tool.  When prompted, click a new point to use as the origin.  Press Enter to finish the tool (keeping the existing rotation).

If you need a specific offset, you can do that by specifying 3 or more 'virtual' survey points in the Registration UI.  No need to re-register anything, just click the 'Registration' button from the main menu and select the points there.

Yes, I need a specific offset.  Can you be more specific on the process to pick virtual survey points?  I don't see a registration button on my main menu when I open the RCP?

It's a bit outdated, but the process is described here (you don't need a 'survey file', you can just type the shift):

Registration is only available in ReCap Pro.  If you have Pro, and don't have the button in the main menu, it's possible that you weren't given the entire project (only the 3D point cloud portion).  If this is the case you'll need to request the full project from your service provider, or show them the link above for a faster way to offset the coordinates.

@ryan.frenzThis link is dead. Any chance we can get a fresh one?
