Sharing Point Cloud with ReCap 360

Hi

I have some scans and created a model in ReCap Pro.  Then I want to publish the model to ReCap 360 for share-ing.  I can publish it to ReCap 360 with no errors but the ReCap 360 model is only showing the Scan Locations (360° pictures) but not the Point Cloud data.

Should the Point Cloud data not also be uploaded to the ReCap 360?  If not, is there some way to share Point Clouds for viewing?

with regards

Hi @hallgrimurmar,

Thank you for participating in our Community! Unfortunately point cloud data do not get stored on A360 drive when you publish ReCap Project. You can view published point cloud project on ReCap Web.

ReCap offers the ability for you publish your projects to the web and privately share them via email with whoever you wish. You also define collaborators' access permissions to specify at which level they can view or manipulate the file.

If you have any feedback that you would like to submit regarding any enhancement, please click on the “ReCap IdeaStation” link on the ReCap community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi

What do you mean with ReCap Web? ReCap 360?

I am publishing the ReCap model in ReCap Pro for share-ing but only get the 360 images but not the point cloud model.

How can I publish the point cloud?

Hi @hallgrimurmar,

Thank you for your reply. Would you be able to provide screen cast or screen capture of this behavior for further investigation.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi

Not sure what to show.

In ReCap pro I go into með menu and publish the model.  Takes a few moments to upload with no problem.

Then I go to ReCap 360 www.recap360.autodesk.com and see my project.  When I open the project I only see the Scan locations but not the point Cloud.

I need to be able to see also the point cloud on the web.

Hi @hallgrimurmar,

Thank you for sharing screen capture. Unfortunately at this time ReCap doesn't support sharing point cloud on the web, this is an enhancement request and If you have any feedback that you would like to submit regarding any enhancement, please click on the “ReCap IdeaStation” link on the ReCap community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Thank you and have a great day!

HI

So you are saying that Autodesk does not provide a way to share Point Clouds on the web?

You said in previous answer "You can view published point cloud project on ReCap Web". What did you mean by that?  How can I publish point cloud projects to ReCap Web?

Hi @hallgrimurmar,

You can publish ReCap point cloud project from ReCap Pro and then share with other users for viewing only. ReCap doesn't publish RCS because this files are large in size (depends on your project). As workaround you can share RCP and Support folder associated with ReCap Project with your user and they can open in ReCap.

As I mention in my previous post saying that this is an enhancement request and If you have any feedback that you would like to submit regarding any enhancement, please click on the “ReCap IdeaStation” link on the ReCap community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi

I am using ReCap Pro.  As you state, I should be able to publish the point cloud for viewing, but that is not happening.

Hi @hallgrimurmar,

At this time you can't view a point cloud on ReCap web. You can only view Maps and RealViews. This is an enhancement request and If you have any feedback that you would like to submit regarding any enhancement, please click on the “ReCap IdeaStation” link on the ReCap community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Thank you and have a great day!

Has there been any updates on ability to share the point cloud .RCS file, such as Leica TruView https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frQjtQJ8L8c

Leica Trueview requires each of your clients to download and install the plugin and Internet Explorer (and all the glitches that go along with installing those two items). Oh, and it costs over $3,000 every year.

Now, doesn't that sound like brilliant product development?
