Register mesh from Recap Photo or Memento

Hi everyone,

I have a question about combinig laserscanning and photogrammetry. I have two laserscans of a building which are registered and saved in a Recap project. I also have a mesh of the same building created with Recap Photo and edited in Memento.

Now I imported the mesh as a point cloud into the laserscan project in Recap. I fixed the scale issue of Memento with another program (I have written that the scale bug will be fixed in the next release).

Unfortunately it is not possible to register the point cloud from the mesh with the two laser scans 😞 . Is there any way to register a point cloud from Memento/RecapPhoto with laser scans?

While you cannot register them, you can align them. What you'll need to do is add survey points to the photo model. These do not actually need to be surveyed. What you can do is find some points in the laser scanned models that are visible in the photo model and write down the x,y,z, then in the photo model, assign the points the x,y,z from ReCap. Then when you resubmit your project, the new point cloud will drop right into the appropriate place in your project when you add it to the laser scans.
