RECAP without cloud, ie Using your own hardware to process.

Hi all!..

I wonder if anyone can help. I am currently a user of Agisoft Photoscan to process my Drone Imagery, having been an Autodesk user of many software for the last 20+ years, i am looking at purchasing the AEC Collection which obviously uses Recap in its arsenal of software.

Now i have done a bit of research and it has a lot of potential for my workflows. One question my reseller could not answer categorically is whether or not

Recap can function offline, ie local processing. That way i always have control of my outputs.

If it cannot process 'offline' as it were, does cost credits every time i wish to process ?

I like to tweak outputs etc, so if a project has to be processed over and over, will it cost credits over an over is another question.

Hope this is easily answered.

Many thanks

Colin

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for participating in our Community!!! This is good question. ReCap Photo to 3D local processing is currently not available but its in top of our RoadMap item. This is an enhancement and If you have any feedback that you would like to submit regarding any enhancement, please click on the “ReCap IdeaStation” link on the ReCap community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Regarding cloud credit question, when you process Photo to 3D project using ultra mode it will required cloud credits.  If you are not happy with output and resubmit project for process, then it will be free.

Please, let me know if this helps.

Thank you and have a great day!!!

So only on Ultra do you use credits ?
Are there any examples of the various levels of output , comparing Ultra with say medium or basic etc ?

Thanks for the reply above !

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, cloud credit for only Ultra processing.

At this time output quality only in Preview (basically basic) and Ultra mode.

Thank you and have a great day!!!

Any news about this?

Is there now a way to use my own hardware or are we still forced to use Cloud Credits?

Hi, having the same issue with not being able to proces localy.

You are writing the cloud credits are only for ultra mode and not for basic.

Where can I see this setting. I don't get any option on ultra or other way of preocessing.

Where can I see this setting. ?   basic  process, not using cloud credit,   ?

nowhere cause It doesn't exist anymore, in 2019 ,

but they pretend to help , by answering

Yes, cloud credit for only Ultra processing.

At this time output quality only in Preview (basically basic) and Ultra mode.

wrong,  false ,

and they are soo polite  ,

Thank you and have a great day!!!

and even think there fake answer,  already outdated for year gonna help ,

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

for the price we pay them , they even check  if you gonna believe them,

and stop bother autodesk to remove free service that you actually pay with the subcription, 3 years ago.

typical autodesk

so for real answer,

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

there is no more free service you have to pay again in addition to your subcription,

to use cloud credit  1 dollars = 1 cloud credits    (around 12 $ to 100 $ for a mess up 3d )

then If the model is messed up you can reprocess, but no refund ,   of course,

and maybe according to roadmap let's say , 2/3 year they gonna reintroduce local process,

if they don't make enough money with cloud credit , only if they don't make enough money,

have a nice day, 🙂

I will not check if my answer was accept as a solution,

see polite and honest,  even better than autodesk who are just polite.

P.S.: hope I will have free cloud credit for participating to the forum, 🙂

Even further You can use 3DF Zephyr Free   it doing really great job for 50 photos,

Hello. I have an educational license for recap pro and I want to use the scan to mesh option for a lidar point cloud. Is there a way to do it without having to buy tokens or still not??
