Good day @Anonymous

I was having the very similar issue at first, but once I selected the .e57 files to import and then it started to process after a while; sure much longer that .las file format for sure.

I will try your link over the weekend to see if I have any luck, and provide you feed back.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thank you for reporting this issue. I just sent you a request for permission for the files you shared.

Once we get the sample files, we will take a look at the cause of the import failure.

Thanks,

Yan

Hi Marcos,
I get same as you.
At the bottom of the window, ReCap says "6 files selected for import", but nothing happens, no error dialogues.
I also tried opening them in CloudCompare. I got "An error occurred while loading 'Pacifico': the third-party library in charge of saving/loading the file has thrown an exception". No idea what that means.

Good day @Anonymous

I am getting the same thing as @Pointdump , and that is rather strange because I have been able to process .e57 file format. Is there a possibility of the method in which the scan data was processed?

Do you know what software was used to processed data?

Thank you

ReCap got an exception throw when trying to open this file, same result as what you see in CloudCompare.

How is the e57 file created? It may have some extra field that is not supported by general e57 reader.

Hi,

The problem seems to happen only to some specific e57 file.

Can you help to upload the file so we can try to reproduce it on our side?

Regards,

Klarinda

Hi Lukas, thanks for the sample file, I am able to reproduce the issue.

We will need some time to investigate.

Btw one question, how is the e57 file created?

Hi @lukas_v

We checked the e57 file is corrupted, the header file is empty.

May I know how is the e57 file is created? What software do you use to create / view the e57 file?

Regards,

Klarinda

Hi @lukas_v

We did more investigation on the test file and we find that it is missing both header and XML section.

Based on E57 standard, e57 file needs to have header and XML section. Without this, it is impossible to read e57 scan structure because the XML section contains the hierarchical tree structure of the binary data.

May I know how did you regenerate the e57 file and is it possible to regenerate the file again?

I got the file from our external surveyor, I don't know how he created it, apparently he made some mistake. Now I got this file again and it works now.
It would be good if ReCap somehow pointed out the e57 error and just took a step back.

Yes, that's a great tip. We will try to implement this.

Thanks,
