Recap Decimation Problem

Trying to import pts files into recap but it decimates the file.

Import a 700MB Ptx the scan comes in ok

Import a 400MB PTS with color and intensity the rcs file is 27MB and you can clearly see there is less points in the cloud.

I can only assume recap cannot handle a large files in the pts format as they are just TXT files so it decimates.

I don't have recap pro as I don't position the scans on recap as I use Leica Cyclone for the registration of positions.

I just need to get the clouds out into recap so the client can see the cloud in revit.

I could supply just positioned PTX files but revit recap can't load all the scans and is of limited use.

So I am cutting up the cloud into more manageble boxes.

Oh Its really hard to find help at autodesk, very odd!!

Well Folks I found the issue

I assumed the decimation setting was in the pro version because everytime I went to settings in the project their was no decimation setting.

Its not in the project but in the import area up to the right.hand corner.

All the pretty buttons just look like graphics

Really guys, just  give me a menu please.

Funky graphics in the shape of scanners and rockets are not really me.

Correct, the decimation settings are an advanced option available during import. We definitely support files much larger than that. I'm glad that you were able to find what you needed.

After selecting the files to import, you need to switch to the "advanced" settings and there you can set the "decimation grid"
