ReCap crash when measuring distance

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I have a project that I have completed approx 10 x scans with our BLK360. When utilising realview within ReCap, we have only one scan that crashes the program with error corde RE3100 when the distance tool is clicked.

All the other scan points do not have an issue with distance.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience/issue?

Cheers

Hello @Anonymous,

Is your Windows id having any special characters? If so, you might need to create a Windows id with non special characters to overcome this issue.

Let me know if that helps.

Hi Vikas - No special characters in my ID.

Incidentally, I had this issue yesterday on another project with scans completed last week.

What does this error code represent?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for participating in our Community! This may be caused by Corrupted MS Visual C++ or Special characters into your windows user. Sometimes a simple reboot might solve the issue; if not, please try to remove and reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries, reboot and launch the software.

If you have special characters in your Windows username, create another Windows user and launch ReCap from there.

Please, let me know if this helps.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi Anil,

I get the same problem.  Trying to measure while in Realview consistently crashes the program.  I have updated the Microsoft C++, I have no special characters in my Windows user name, my workstation is brand new and specifically designed to be working with these programs.  I need a solution before I pull my hair out.

Thanks!

Simon

Hi, I'm also having this issue with an RE3100 error code while measuring. No special characters in my window ID as far as I know, and I'm not going to trouble myself with reinstalling c++ just yet as the previous reply say it made no difference. Frustrating

Latest version of recap as of today.

thanks

Still having this issue with the latest version of Recap also....!

@anil_mistry Can you please advise what is happening here, seems others have the same issue and it has been ongoing for a long time now?

Hi Anil,

I am experiencing this problem also, it is most frustrating as sometimes it crashes when simply moving the cursor across the real view image. A solution is required urgently for this as the software is next to useless when this happens so frequently. It seems to be since the recent update as I had very few issues before this. The problem now for me is that the work I am currently doing needs this to work well.

Regards

Steve

Any word on this issue? I just installed the newest Recap Pro (2020) as well as the hotfix, as well as doing the C++ fix and there are no special characters in the user name. Would be nice to get an actual answer from Autodesk on this

Hello @MDMcad ,

Sorry for the inconvenience.

We have looked into this issue, but unfortunately cannot reproduce it.

Is it possible that you can provide us a small project that can reproduce this issue?

Thank you,

Yan

Hi Yan,

This happens in every single project I have created since I've been using ReCap for over a year now.  Dozens of projects.   It's not one specific scan or project for me.   Sometimes it happens the very first time I try to measure something and other times I can get a few measurements in before it crashes on me.   Generally, if I switch to Intensity instead of RGB while in Realview I can get the measurements without it crashing, but it has crashed there a couple times too.  Always the same error code 3100.   Also, the blackout spots in the 360 photos using the BLK360 are infuriating.  Leica told me that it was a ReCap issue.  I've been waiting for 16 months now for you guys to figure this stuff out.

Hi all,

I posted this quite sometime ago now and to be honest I have had nothing back other than "we are looking into it". I cannot for the life of me understand how the error cannot be reproduced by Autodesk when it happens almost everytime Recap is used and looking at this site it happens to a lot of people.

We are now purchasing Leica software to overcome these issues.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

If you could report back on your opinion of the Leica software after you try it out, I would greatly appreciate it.  I'm fed up with ReCap.

Thanks!

I just wanted to post that I am having the exact issue, only 1 scan within a project I try to measure and it closes every time.  I can get some measurements in others scans.  I also used the BLK360.  I have tried RECAP 2019 and 2020.  Just thought maybe more people having the issue might help autodesk's willingness to find a solution.
