Recap & Autodesk Docs, Share Online Viewer of Pointclouds to NonDocs users?

HI Guys,

So I am a Recap Pro user, and love the new 2023 Recap/Docs combined feature of being able to publish the Pointcloud files to the web.

 

I have a trial of Autodesk Docs to do just that, and am happy to pay for a years subscription of Docs just to have that feature.

I realize Docs does a lot more than just that, but for now, sharing my pointclouds gets it across the line.

 

But the interface and complexity of Docs just to share a pointcloud is doing my head in!

 

Can someone please confirm for me:
1. If I have an Autodesk Docs Sub (Or for now to test, the Trial) Can I share my published to Docs Pointclouds with non-Docs users?

2. Can I do that without the requirement of the person I am sending to, to have any type of Autodesk login?

3. And if all is possible, how the heck do I do it?!! LOL

 

All I am trying to do (and will justify my purchase of AD-Docs) is upload my Recap Pointcloud to Autodesk Docs, and share a simple link in an email to a Non-Autodesk client, so he can View, Orbit, and measure the pointcloud without him purchasing/installing/signing up to anything.

You can share the folder with your colleague:

  • add the user
  • permission should be set to Edit so the user is able to add/edit annotations

I have no idea what is happening wih Autodesk and this product... But this totally does not work at all.

 

I do not have that screen at all, and it seems there really is no way to share a pointcloud within Autodesk Docs for Outside users to view. (Or maybe you need a 3 Yr Degree to be able to do it)

Its a shame, as it could have really made Recap wonderful, but this is just a total mess!
