A client supplied a point cloud dataset to me and it imported into ReCap fine, then loaded into MAX2014 corrrectly also. Then I asked the client to clean up the stray points. Every file the client gave me (3 attempts) consistantly is truncated at a diagonal across the hood when brought into MAX. The data looks fine in ReCap.
You would therefore think the problem is with MAX, but this is why I think the problen lies with ReCap
(see attached):
The .pcg files for the "uncleaned" and "cleaned" data from the client are 99MB verses 96.5MB, which is what you would expect when only a few points have been removed.
The exported .rcs file from ReCap is consistantly 102MB verses 82MB, which is about a 20% files size difference and accounts for the approx. 20% of the point cloud that disappears.
It is my conclusion that the data from the client is fine (and all shows up in ReCap), but the export from ReCap is messed up.
Sounds like a bug. If not a bug, I'd love to solve the problem. If a bug, then the bug needs to be addressed.
Thanks in advance for everyone's efforts.
