nwd viewing issue

So I imported an NWD into a RCP I had.  The NWD was jus just some extra pipe to fit into the piping in rooms that I had scanned.   it looked great, worked perfect.

Then I added an NWD to a larger project, with more scans.  this NWD was a whole building shell and all rooms inside, everything.  this model does not show, unless I look up.  when I start looking down, it disappears.

We also tried this with another model, on the same scan, of just ductwork, and it only shows when you look one direction.   See screencast below.   Thinking maybe the file size is too large?   too many scans?  the NWD was about 16MB.

maybe im missing a setting

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are having.

We are currently investigating the issue.  Do you have a project that you could share with us in order for our devs to replicate the issue?

Thanks,

James

How about the NWD file?  Does the same issue happen with another project when you attach this NWD file?

I've noticed the same thing. Small NWD files behave as predicted, but large buildings, or complexes of buildings, only render in unique views (direction/zoom). Curious...

sent the nwd to anil and marczinck already

How did you manage to import a NWD into Recap? I've tried it in the latest version and it messes up everything.

So when I append my point cloud and a 3d Model into navisworks they merge with no problem, using the same WCS. But when I save that model as a NWD and later import it into Recap it is not located where it's supposed to be... Any thoughts?

Try backing out your project north rotation.

How do I back out the north rotation?

Sorry. Was writing with thumbs earlier, so didn't elaborate.

I don't know the source of your NWD. In our case, we generate them from
our Revit models. Many of our Revit models have a Project North (as
distinct from True North). Somehow Navisowrks is smart enough to know how
to handle this when viewing the NWC in Navisworks with a point cloud - but
on saving to NWD, the Project north over-rides everything and it comes in
to ReCap misaligned.

Removing Project North from a Revit project prior to exporting to NWC is a
cumbersome process and one in which we have been investigating for a
while. Our clunky workaround involves setting reference planes to True
North and rotating the entire project to make True North up (so Project
North and True North are the same). Then export to NWC, convert to NWD and
import into ReCap.

That's what has worked for us.

Hi.

Any progression on solving this problem yet?

I have a .nwd file containing a set of five buildings. On import in ReCap i get a message that says: PROJECT SUCCESSFULLY LOADED,  but nothing is showing. All of the buildings are products from scandata and I would like to compare the scans and the model in the ReCap software.
