Is Recap Pro suited for small object photogrammetry?

Hello community,

I am new to Autodesk products and this forum. I am figuring out if Recap Pro or anyother autocad product would be best suited for photogrammetry of small objects like plates, bottles, tables and convert it to mesh objects?

Hopefully your extended knowledge of the product may guide me to know which product would suit most of my need.

Thank you,

Kevin

Hi @knobreUS2ZU ,

You'll be able to perform object photogrammetry using ReCap Photo that comes along with ReCap Pro subscription.

You can find more details on ReCap Photot here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/recap/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/ReCap-Phot...

ReCap Photo has 2 processing types, the ability to process Aerial Photography that is drone captures, and the ability to capture object photography.

More details on usage and how photos are taken: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/recap/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-tak...

I Am unable to buy the subscription in Europe. I am based in Luxembourg and https://www.autodesk.com/services/estore/redirect?productLine=RECAP&country=LU&language=en&term=1-MO... does not work.

Any reason why there is no store for Europe? Is Autodesk now only for US?

Thanks,

Kevin

=> I am unable to send you a PM. I have reached the limit of.... ZERO MESSAGES!

Hello Barmanr,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have many comments.

- Why am I not able to subscribe from a Luxembourg address?
- My phone number is xxxx(Sorry dont know where this reply will go). My profile is knobreUS2ZU
- Can I use 3D cloud servers to generate 3d photogrammetric objects and upload them from my PC? I dont have the computing power to perform the calculation. I would like to be sure as explained in the video from 2013 than I am able to do so.

Thanks

Kevin

PS:

The PM tool is not intuitive. I had to add your username on the inbox and then send write, instead of redirecting click right on the forum.

Hi @knobreUS2ZU,

Sorry, I did not receive an email or PM.

Either way let me check with sales as to your first question regarding the purchase of subscription and get back to you once I hear back.

Regarding the question about cloud servers. Yes in fact there is no local processing. All jobs will be processed in dedicated cloud instances. Also to let you know that there is a photo limitation set for per job processing which for Aerial drone based is 1000 and for Object is 300. And would like to also make it clear that the subscription will get you 100 cloud credits in the beginning but these cloud credits once exhausted will need to be purchased that is separate from a subscription. In summery, a subscription will give you full access to the application along with Autodesk drive for storage but for processing beyond 100 cloud credits, you will need more cloud credits that can be purchased. Just as an example say processing 25 images consumes 12 CC’s. Just an illustration. There are different photo count tiers for this like 10-20 images = x CC’s etc.

Warmest Regards,

Rishov

Ok Rishov,
I know the cost structure. Saying cloud, means I can upload from my computer the pictures to 360 autodesk and the process will not need any local computing power, correct?
Also is there any pricing table for the cloud credit in euros, just to make it more transparent.

Thank you,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Yes, photos will be uploaded from local computer and all processing is done in the cloud and outputs are uploaded back to Autodesk Drive. Just to be clear, A360 is going end of life and it’s Autodesk Drive now.

For the pricing table, let me see if I can find some information from sales regarding this.

Warmest Regards,

Rishov
