FARO Focus FLS scans with green point artifacts

I'm having issues with importing FARO FLS scans where it seems the importer isn't reading some scans correctly and creating these strange extra green points. Has anybody else had this issue before?

(We're using 2 scanners, a Focus 120 and Focus X330 and both seem to be having the same issues)Normal PointcloudNormal PointcloudPointcloud with issuePointcloud with issue

I've been having similar issues. We use a Leica C10 scanner, registered and exported from Leica Cyclone to .PTX or .PTS format and brought into ReCap. I've tried a multitude of different settings and received varying results, but nothing consistent. Sometimes importing it on another computer yields the expected results (no random gren/blue data). The data is fabricated during the import process to ReCap and doesn't exist in the point cloud itself (verified by opening the .PTX/.PTS files in another software). The data is periodic in a cartesian coordinate system and does not match the spherical coordinates of the data points from the scanner.

One thing I've noticed is it doesn't seem to happen with point cloud data that does not include color. Also, if I toggle off individual scans you can see that the data only shows up in some of the scans that were brought into Recap.

Hello @Calvin.hendriks ,

Thanks for reporting this issue.

The development team are aware of this green points issue. This issue is not related to the scanner itself.

A fix has been released in ReCap 7.0. However, some customers are still experiencing this issue after some version of Windows 10 update.

The development team is still investigating on this issue and a fix will be released when it is ready.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Best,

Yan

Thanks for the update. It is good to know that it is being looked into. I've just tried version 7.0 (Was on 6.9) but it is still occurring in this version as well.

@Calvin.hendriks glad to see that i'm not the only one having this issue. I ended up going back to an older version of software and a computer running windows 7 and haven't had any issues. Bit annoying as i'd imported around 100 scans and have to start again but at least I've got a work around for the moment.
