Hi there, 

I am wondering if someone can help me with this. 

I have a 3D model composed of 21 million faces and about 100 texture files and I am trying to down scale the model to 2.5 million faces and 8 rebaked texture files. However when I try to make the export I get a error message. 

I was able to successfully export the model using the single texture file option as well as an export with a face count of 5.2 million with 11 texture files.

 

Also good to note I have 64 gigs of ram in my machine which all get used up when I make the export.  What i don't understand is why in certain conditions the export does work and in others it doesn't. 

 

If any one has any info on this subject it would me greatly appreciated.

I don't have the solution but having the same problem. Maybe there's an answer in 4 years since the question?

This problem is likely due to a known issue in the texture packing algorithm, where the rebaked textures are unable to fit all the available textures chart into the limited amount of available textures space (try fitting 100 textures into 8 textures). Hence, when there is more textures space available the export is successful.
