Download for MAC Recap 360 pro

I have just bought this software and I have discovered that the software seemed to be for Windows only. Is there a MAC version? It's useless to me without the right software - and no I do not want to run another program to have a windows operating system!

Can anyone help me, please?

Thanks

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I guess it depends on what you need.

There is no Mac desktop version of ReCap 360 Pro.  But there are a large number of features available in the web browser (at recap360.autodesk.com).  This includes the ability to create a photo-based 3D mesh.  But to create a laser scan project (import raw data, register it, etc) you'll need to use Windows.

Hi Ryan
Thank you for your response.
I find it poor, that there was no warning that there was only a Windows
software version. Having spent £305 for an annual subscription, I feel I
have been now officially fleeced! I have a client waiting for me to get
900 photos stitched for an important job and I am now feeling helpless.
What solutions can you offer, Please?
Kind regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

The only option for getting models from photos is directly from recap360.autodesk.com.

You also have access to the desktop version, but that is only for processing laser scanned data and point cloud models.

I am having a similar issue and am unsure as to how to proceed. I have the most recent Macbook Pro with the touchbar and it is maxed

out in terms of graphics, memory, and CPU. I just installed Parallels 12 and set the install to "Games". WebGL applications work in real time;

For example: http://madebyevan.com/webgl-water/ when inside of Windows 10, which I just installed as a virtual machine.

I installed Recap Pro (which I could get free based on an educational license). However, it will not start correctly. The error is that OpenGL

is 0.0". The error window essentially says that I do not have OpenGL installed.

I am unsure how to determine what OpenGL version is installed, but is not 0.0.

I don't know whether using Bootcamp would be better. Are there any ideas from the Autodesk side?

Hi @Anonymous,

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately at this time Bootcamp is the only supported method for ReCap.

Thank you and have a great day!!!

Hi,

As previously posted, the only way to run Recap Pro is via Apple Bootcamp, running Windows. Recap will not work on Parallels as Parallels uses an older/incompatable version of OpenGL. If running Bootcamp, make sure it is running the latest version with all the correct drivers. Running a realtime OpenGL application on an older version of Bootcamp is unstable and prone to crashing.

Cheers,

DP

Thank you. I did install Bootcamp and then Recap Pro. I see what you mean about the drivers. The Macbook Pro I have has

ATI (Radeon) and Intel drivers, so I guess I'll need to go to each web site, while in WIndows 10, and download the latest

drivers. For running Sierra (Mac OS), Apple automagically downloads the latest drivers, but I guess for WIndows, one has

to do it manually?

Hi from Spain.
I dont have a Mac, but I guess that Parallels is not the only virtualization software available for Mac OS.

In fact VM Ware seems to be more powerfull and capable than Parallels. Seeing the VM Ware web page, it is said that it is compatible with Direct X10 and Open GL 3.3, then it is possible that ReCap could run in an virtualized environment rather than in a native one. Even more, the "Fusion" feature allows to run Windows apps in an isolated window, most like a native MacOS app.
