downgrade to ReCap 'basic'

I just installed ReCap 2016 from the downloader on Autodesk.com.  It installed: ReCap, ReCap 360, and ReCap Ultimate.  However for my testing, I want to use only the 'basic, free' ReCap. How can I downgrade this installation so I don't 'assume' a function from Ultimate is part of the fee version?

Hi,

Just continue using the ultimate version.

After the trial expires you'll be left with all the free features.

And how do you propose I learn which features are 'paid' and which are free?  Or are you suggesting I just wait with my testing until the trial expires?

Maybe you'd like to show me where on this image "can delete points" is, because all 3 can do that. Oh, so is their 'feature list' incomplete? So I guess THATS NO WAY TO KNOW WHICH FEATURES PERTAIN TO WHICH VERSION.

Could you at least tell me how long the trial will last?  The dialog box does not show any dates/ranges.

Calm down

30 days.

Regular can do everything except register.

And yes, the link does answer the question of what ultimate can do that regular cant, even says that both can delete points.  See attached Png

Hello Dustin,

As Mitko mention in above Forum post saying that just continue using the ultimate version and once the trial expires you'll be left with all the free features.

Please, click on this link http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap/compare to compare ReCap products features (ReCap vs. ReCap 360 and ReCap 360 Ultimate).

Also, both ReCap and ReCap Ultimate can delete the points. ReCap trial will last 30 days from the installation date.

Please, let me know if this helps.

Thank you and have a great day!
Best regards,

CALM DOWN

lol

As a technology manager who has been using Autodesk products for more than 20 years and laser scanning products for more than 10 years, I am fully capable of asking a question relevant to this field. And I asked precisely the question I intended to ask, as it relates to how I will or won't deploy ReCap to my 100 engineers.

For the record, none of you have answered my question. The question was 'how do I downgrade ReCap' not 'how long must I wait'. I am on a TECHNICAL forum looking for a TECHNICAL answer to a straightfoward, TECHNICAL question. If I had wanted to be told "just wait 30 days" I would've asked a salesperson. Instead, not one, but two Autodesk staff have intentionally avoided providing a simple TECHNICAL answer to my question for some reason. This is not the level of support I expect from a company I write an $80,000 check to every year. It is frustrating, and infuriating.

My agitation began when somebody from Autodesk dismissed my question & concern as if it was not valid, and provided an 'answer' that suited what is perhaps the official Autodesk position of 'no comment', he did not addres the OP. Then someone suggests I read literature that I already had, which was incomplete. And again, just for the record, CLIPPING is NOT the same as DELETING points (see links below). So please dismiss any thoughts that you deserve Kudos or 'Solution' as well, especially considering you never even bothered with the OP.

Finally, for the record, this has been easily one of the worst experiences I've had on a Newsgroup, and I've been doing this since the early days of Compuserve Bulletin Boards.

Good day, gentlemen.

Hi,

You don't have to wait, just use the version that you already are using, or download the latest from this link:

http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap/free-trial

With this version you can do everything from viewing, editing, measuring, clipping, deleting, basic measuring...

The only features that will lock after 30 days are:

- Auto registration (requires ReCap Ultimate subscription)

- Adding survey controls (requires ReCap Ultimate subscription)

- and advanced measurement tools (requires ReCap 360 subscription)

Everything else is free at will remain free after the trial expires of the above features.

Thank you,

Mitko

Please stop marking the 'wait 30 days' suggestion as the 'solution'. It is the the solution to my queston, it is a workaround. Do you understand the difference?

@dtiemeyer yes I do.

Can you see the differences in the versions (below) pointed out in the thread being marked?

It seems like fairly clear answer an although not a direct "here is the basic version download link" it is representative of the correct answer.

"The only features that will lock after 30 days are:

- Auto registration (requires ReCap Ultimate subscription)

- and advanced measurement tools (requires ReCap 360 subscription)

You're post\rant you are marking solved is most definitely NOT the solution.

A professional community should be able to expect a professional decorum from everyone involved though I do understand emotions can get in the way sometimes

We mark things as a solution for other users that might have the same question making it easier to find answers the post being marked states clearly what is not included in the basic version.

Therefore we are going to agree to disagree as you have more than stated you position in the thread here, I am (for other users) remarking the solution post and closing this thread to addition replies.

Additional comments should be directed to me Via a community Pm or at [email protected]

Thanks and best wishes with your future endeavors
