After purchasing Pro version of Recap 360, my data services are still grayed out, labeled as Beta and not performing any of workflows that 360 pro is supposed to deliver. Cloud to mesh and cleanup are not working.
Is there a trick to activating these services?
Any help will be appreciated as I need to produce contours our of recent UAV obtained point cloud.
TZ
TZ,
Cleanup and scan-to-mesh are both available only for structured data, generally produced by terrestrial laser scanners. UAV point cloud data is typically unstructured. However, for UAV photos turned into point clouds via ReCap 360 Web, the mesh is already available.
Thanks,
Michael
Hello I am using the trial version of recap pro 2017 with a scene made of several Faro scans.
I dont have access to the data services. Is it a limitation of the trials version?
There are no feature restrictions in trial mode. Are RealViews (panorama views) available in your project? If so, that would indicate that you have structured data, and the data services should be available.
Hi @Anonymous,
If you are importing from Scene try by bringing the FLS files instead of the RCS.
The structured info is lost when exporting from Scene as RCS.
Mitko
unfortunatly I dont have the native FLS. What I have is a recap scene made with an old recap (not 360). I can see the different scan locations in the scene. So to sum up I have a RCP file and a directory with several RCS.
Is there a way to make a mesh with that?
I dont see the Realviews. I am not used to them but they are supposed to be spheres in the scene?
Yes, if you have structured data, they would appear as spheres in the scene that bring up panoramic views of each scan. Unfortunately, creating a mesh without that information is not currently possible.
ok thank you for the information.
No I dont see the spheres.
I am sure that the scans comes from Faro, so now, what I try to understand is when this loss of data has happenned. Is it because the scene I have is from an old Recap or is it not possible to save these structured data even with Recap 360 pro 2017?
If I manage to get all the originals FLS what is the correct workflow? import them in Recap 360, align them, and export the mesh?
Hi @Anonymous,
That is correct.
If you can find the FLS files and import in ReCap you should be able to see the panoramas and run the Scan-to-Mesh feature in ReCap.
Mitko
so I finally get the FLS files and imported them in Recap.
I see now the panoramas the scan to mesh is active.
What is very confusing is that if I reopen Recap all the panoramas have disappeared. That means if I want to use scan to mesh function I cannot save the scene, I have to do it directly after importing the fls?
Unless you performed an export and opened the exported files, the panoramas should still be present. After importing FLS and seeing the scan-to-mesh option available, what operations did you perform on the project before closing and re-opening?
Thanks,
Michael
I just perform the scan-to-mesh, Recap ask me to save the scene and I dont know for what reason it has to close. When I reopen it the panoramas have disappeared.
You should receive an e-mail shortly about a box.com shared folder. If you upload the project, we can take a look at what is going wrong.
Thanks,
Michael
