could not import scan!

Hey everybody,

i have a problem importing LIDAR data to ReCap. Mostly everything works fine, but sometimes i get this error (see attachments). For me, i get the error when trying to import larger LIDAR files (40-50 Mb), but my friend gets the same error even with 2Mb files sometimes.

An example is this file, which i know causes my ReCap the error - https://geoportaal.maaamet.ee/index.php?lang_id=1&plugin_act=otsing&kaardiruut=546709&andmetyyp=lida...

(This is a link to Estonia Land Board where we can download free LIDAR data, it is safe)

My ReCap version is 5.0.3.58

My computer specs: 16Gb RAM, 6x3,40 Gb processor, NVIDIA Quadro K1200 graphics card

Having looked up the problem on the internet, i have a feeling computer specs might cause the problem, but are my PC specs really that low for a 50Mb .laz file?

Thank you.

Thank you for your report.

Looks like the file in the link is compressed using latest Laszip.

Laz Compressor 3 is not supported in ReCap yet.

Thank you for the explanation. Do you know if i can convert those files to some older .laz format that ReCap understands?

Hi @karlkarpuk ,

You may follow the following instruction to decompress your .laz file to .las file and then import into ReCap.

https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/how-do-i-decompress-usgs-lidar-data-laz-14-format

Thanks,

Yan
