Corrupt ReCap file after saving

"Open project failed"

This has plagued me for 3 days. I open a ReCap file I worked on last week. I delete some points, make a few regions, save and exit. When I open it next, it is corrupt and I have to restore a previous version from a network snapshot. Even the backup files in the Support folder do not work. I've saved it locally but the same thing happens. I've seen a few older posts about this, but not much recent. I'm using the latest version 4.2, good network, good computer. This was supposed to be a 4 hour job. I've wasted over 4 hours editing this file only to have to go back to a previous version every time. It was working well last week. I made several regions and deleted points, but now I just can't do anything with it.

Hi @LyleHardin,

I am sorry to hear that you are not able to open your ReCap Project. Try creating new project and importing RCS files from this corrupted project. Let me know if this works.

Thank you and have a great day!

I got around to trying it this morning.

Everything came together registered nicely, but all the Regions I had made are gone.

The points I removed were gone, which was good, but the Regions were the main thing.

I ended up registering the scans from scratch in Faro's SCENE software, exported the .fls files for ReCap, and I've started over in ReCap to remove the points and create the regions. This time I'm doing it locally on my machine and saving/saving as frequently, exiting ReCap, starting ReCap again, and opening the most recent project. So far, so good. I do notice ReCap really starts to bog down as I work. Are the regions causing this?

Hi @LyleHardin,

Thank you for your reply and I am glad to hear that the issue is now resolved. I would suggest not to create to many regions or one big region with lots of points. I would keep it region size smaller. Let me know if this helps.

Thank you and have a great day!

I'm having the exact same issue. I start working and then try saving my project and it saves a corrupt project file with parts missing in the support folder. It has been doing this for 2 days straight now and I've been loosing hours of work due to this bug. I have updated to the latest version of ReCap, even the one that came out a few days ago. I'm currently viewing a non-responsive ReCap screen hoping the program will come back to life so I don't have to redo all the work again.
