Autodesk ReCap Pro / Photo 2025 and ReCap Viewer - Release Notes

Hi Everyone,

We are happy to announce that Autodesk ReCap Pro / Photo / Viewer 2025 has been released!

What is included in Autodesk ReCap Pro 25.0.0?

New Features and Improvements:

  • Added colorization support for Faro scans during import.
  • Added an option to cancel the process of counting points in the Intelligent Decimation dialog.
  • Added a report dialog for Intelligent Decimation to show the number of points remaining and moved between the source and target classifications respectively.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue in which E57 files with timestamps could not be imported.
  • Fixed an issue in which class 8 Model key-point (mass point) was truncated in "Convert Regions to Classification" dialog for some languages.
  • Fixed an issue in which the canvas was flickering after canceling the Intelligent Decimation dialog when decimate "by approximate number of points" option was selected.
  • Fixed an issue in which NWD files with unicode characters caused an attach project error.
  • Fixed security vulnerabilities.

Known Limitations:

  • Points that belong to a hidden classification are selectable and can be deleted.
  • Classifications in certain types of scans (such as structured scans) cannot be viewed in other Autodesk products. In such cases, the source project can be exported as a unified project for viewing in other Autodesk products.
  • Publishing and scan to mesh no longer work using Desktop Connector v15 and earlier. It is advised to update to Desktop Connector v16 (16.1.1.1950 and above).

What is included in Autodesk ReCap Photo 25.0.0?

New Features and Improvements:

  • Improved stability when submitting multiple aerial or object projects one after another while uploading and processing simultaneously.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed issue in which ReCap Photo remained on previous account when switching licenses in ReCap Pro.
  • Fixed an issue in which deselecting photos in the image loading window was still submitting them for Aerial and Object reconstruction.
  • Fixed an issue in which making selections using the Window Selection mode did not show the selection highlights.
  • Fixed security vulnerabilities.

Known Limitations:

  • Creating a new project will no longer work using Desktop Connector v15 and earlier. It is advised to update to Desktop Connector v16 (16.1.1.1950 and above).

What is included in Autodesk ReCap Viewer?

New Features:

  • 3D feature extraction, including ADA ramps and driveways
  • CSV export for features
  • Toggle scans visibility from Project Browser
  • Highlight scans from Project Browser
  • Remember user visualization preferences

Known Limitations:

  • The export feature templates only supports the same ACC project or a local machine.
  • Real View mirror balls may be partially visible on different browser zoom levels.
  • Project Browser - “Point Features” and “Linear Features” show/hide state is saved for non-ReCap-Pro subscribers with write permissions.

@kgallagherCGHDN, ReCap Viewer is the viewer in ACC Docs, Autodesk Construction Cloud, for visualization, sharing, and extracting features from a point cloud directly from the cloud without having to download. ReCap Pro is a desktop product that provides point cloud creation, classification, and more functionalities.

@ramesh_sridharan  Thanks for the reply. Recap when installed local used to become a freeviewer after the trial expired is that not the case anymore?

@kgallagherCGHDN Yes, that should still be the case, but that is still ReCap Pro read-only mode without a license. It is different from what is referred to here as ReCap Viewer, which is ACC Viewer.
