Clone tool repeat step

Clone tool repeat step

Hi everyone!

It would be great if we could repeat the cloning step. For example, I clone a part with a 20 cm offset, and then I want to repeat that same action several more times. So, let’s say, I could have 5 parts with the same distance between each other.

I’ll record a quick example a bit later to show how nicely this works in Substance 3D Modeler VR.
Thank you and have a great day
Best regards
Andrew

Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu1fNf5ccJE

Timing:

0:00 - In Substance Modeler, you can select any object.
0:06 - And when you drag the arrow, you can hold D and scroll the mouse wheel. The distance can also be adjusted with a simple mouse movement.

This is really missing in Project Falcon.

Thank you and have a great day
Best regards

Thanks @akcharly - so this would more or less like creating an array of objects?  Any visuals you can add would be really helpful!

Hey @sroselle

Yes, the principle is similar to an Array, but as I mentioned, everything here is much more interactive. I might also record an example in PlayStation Dreams. That tool works even better there.

There are many possible use cases - from repeating spaceship details to surreal hard-surface elements.

Hey @sroselle

I recorded one more video where I quickly show the cloning tool, as well as scaling. Pretty interesting ideas, in my opinion. But of course, it is up to you as developers to decide.

Maybe I will show more ideas in the future. Because of the war, I have not spent much time in Dreams for a long time, but I am planning to get back to it. Once I remember all the features, I will record them in a more polished way. Ahaha.

Timing:

0:00 - First, I show a cool thing where we change the size with the arrow keys, and it is displayed as text on the screen. I think it is also a nice idea to make interactive scale adjustment with the Up and Down keys. When you hold Up - it increases, and when you hold Down - it decreases.

0:09 - Then I show the cloning feature I was talking about. It is interactive too. I think this could be implemented with the mouse, similar to how they did it with the gyroscope on the gamepad. At the same time, scaling down and rotation also work with the keys, so you can create unusual Array shapes interactively. I might record another video later, because my controllers are out of battery right now, and doing this with a gamepad is not as convenient.

0:36 - Here I also show interactive cloning and rotation.

Thank you and have a great day
Best regards,
Andrew.

Thanks for sharing these visuals @akcharly it is super helpful to see these tools in action.  I'd definitely like to add some version of this cloning / interactive array workflow in Falcon.
