Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the Autodesk Community!

AutoCAD 2007 is no longer supported by Autodesk and, therefore, it can no longer be downloaded.

Please download one of the versions currently available for students from the Education Community - these include versions 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Dear Camio sir,

I have a quick question. If Autocad2007 is no longer supported by autodesk, can we give the software free to student? If yes, does it mean we are not breaking any laws? Our department is very keen on license issue thing.

The students will use it for academic purposes; ie., project and design...

Your respond is greatly appreciated and will be presented to my Boss.

Sincerely yours,

Orly

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the Autodesk Community!

The versions that you can download for your school or have your students download are posted on the Autodesk Education Community. I'm afraid version 2007 is not among the eligible versions.

Please accept as solution if my post fully answers your question.

Hi,

>> If Autocad2007 is no longer supported by autodesk, can we give the software free to student?

Why do you want to give release 2007 to students when they can have the current release for free?

I guess if you are teaching AutoCAD you want to teach current versions and not 10 year old software, which looks and works very different today.

Hi,

Excuse me, what are bad news?

Are that bad news that Autodesk offers CURRENT releases for free to students?

Why should they use 2007 when they can have 2016, why should they use software from ages ago instead of the current tools?

Sorry, I don't understand your statement(s).

Hi Alfred...

Sorry about that. I mean its bad news for the student here because they are using autocad 2007. I already forward them to used the free student version of autocad but they said they need 2007 version because thats what they are using in the class.

Hi,

I would then try to get in contact with the teacher of that class.

For me it's not fair to teach students with 10 year old software. Whenever they get a job (and so have to work on quite current releases) it's like using an unknown new software. (it's like teaching people in the motorcar mechanic, but never show them an engine)

Hi,

AutoCAD 2007 is not downloadable any more, too old.

AutoCAD 2007 was not designed to run on Windows 8, too old.

Why do you need such an old AutoCAD today?

Sorry, - alfred -

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
