AutoCAD LT 2011 - Can i install on Windows 11

Hi, I am a retired architect. I sometimes still need to access old dwgs and do some minor work on them. The last autocad version I have is Autocad Lt 2011, which worked fine on windows 10, but recently I was upgraded to windows 11, and now I cannot load it. Whenever I try it tells me that it is already loaded, but I cannot find it anywhere. Is it possible to load Lt2011. I don't use it enough and don't earn anything with my architecture anymore to warrant buying a new version, the other option is to use free cad software, but I feel I am too old to learn a new system. Can anyone help?

Hi @KatGevers3443

Thanks for posting to the forums. Unfortunately, the official compatibility for AutoCAD LT on Windows in 11 is only for version 2021 onwards as noted here.

even if you get it installed Autodesk doesn't provide activation codes for 2011 anymore

you can read this: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/subscription-changes/autodesk-to-end-activation-for-versions-2011-201...

Simple answer .. NO

It's not able to work properly on Windows 10 nor Windows 11.  Only a 2021 and is able to work on W11.

You need to only used the approved OS's

What is really annoying is that I have like yourself used LT2011 on Windows 10 without any problems and perfectly well for a number of years so anyone says differently is plain wrong. I have moved onto Windows 11 so like yourself I find that I cannot get the license to work even though I have a perpetual license that Autodesk should honour! I also only need it occasionally when updating drawings. Doubly annoying is that I can run my copy of LT2011 for a 30 day trial period in Windows 11 so I know that it works perfectly well! so don't believe anyone that says it can't. AutoDesk honour my license agreement and give me an activation code.

No one here is Autodesk, so your ask is falling on deaf ears in these forums. Sorry, that's just a reality.

I've seen some get away with this:

it's the C++/NET and other W11 updates that cause issues. As they continue to update Windows more and more vs say SP1 or quarterly you see issues like this more and more.

I know it's only talking to the wind to get it off my chest.

You might find a free (or not-free) method here to do what you want

Thanks for the pointer. My problem isn't that its not running on Windows 11 because it does, its only that I can't get an activation code from AutoDesk, my work around is to leave it on my Windows 10 machine and fire that up when I need it.
