Forced Upgrade

My XP laptop died...  I was forced to buy a new one, with Windows 11. I have my original installation DVD for 2000i, along with a Symbols 2000 DVD. I tried to install 2000i on the new laptop. The program installed but with several errors and rejections regarding running scripts.

The Symbol 2000 won't even try to install as it is not compatible with my version of Windows.

What are my options?

Hi @sgrif47,

There's not really any possibility of installing some 22-year-old software since technology has moved so far, so there is a near-zero chance of compatibility.

It's not a "forced"   Autodesk can only keep up with the lifecycles of Microsoft.

Not maybe software that old still work.

Everything in life has some type of expire date.

For this:

What are my options?

1) Upgrade the software to meet your PC needs

2) Get an older PC and have XP installed.

                 a) keep getting older PC's and putting XP on it and keep using the software

Help yourself or pay some IT savvy friend or nearby computer shop to do it for you:

start here https://blog.longbowsoftware.com/installing-old-versions-of-autocad-on-windows-7-windows-8-and-windo...

then here https://www.google.com/search?q=installing+old+software+in+window10

Did anyone mention you might have issues running your old software without updates it needed from back in the day, or the fact that autodesk may not be able (or willing) to activate your license beyond the 30-day trial yet?
