highlight control?

is there a way to access highlighting things.

like MODE WORKPLANE_CREATE ; INTERACTIVE TURNING

or even featuregroups or holetagging.

so when the mouse is over a circle or object it highlights it.

is there any sort of interactive with the API or powermill plugin?
